The use of bored cast in-situ augered piles are particularly quick and cost effective where open boring into cohesive soil is possible. Where unstable strata is encountered the sectional auger string is rotated into the ground in conjunction with segmental screw threaded temporary casings to progress the bore. Once the required designed depth is reached the auger string is withdrawn and the bore is concreted or grouted prior to the removal of the temporary casing. A single bar or reinforcement cage is inserted on completion of piling. Advantages
